Corporate Philanthropy

Globally, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a growing concept. While CSR does not have a universal definition, it is generally understood to be the way a company achieves a balance or integration of economic, environmental and social imperatives while addressing shareholder and stakeholder expectations.

Regarding their social responsibility, companies are creating strategic corporate giving plans that result in many tangible benefits.

  • Recruit and retain the best talent
  • Impress their stakeholders
  • Boost employee morale and productivity
  • Build a culture of leadership that strengthens the charitible sector

The WindsorEssex Community Foundation partners with local companies to establish endowed funds with the Foundation as a way to re-invest back into the community for the long term. The following is an outline of how your company can support the community by establishing a fund:

  • Your company makes a gift to The WindsorEssex Community Foundation.
  • The Foundation will set up a special fund in your company's name.
  • Your company receives tax benefits in the year your gift is made.
  • Working with our professional staff, you (or a team of employees) can recommend uses for the fund to support the causes and organizations you care about most.
  • Your recommendations are presented to the WindsorEssex Community Foundation Board of Directors for approval.
  • The foundation handles all the administrative details and issue grants to charities in the name of your company's fund (if you prefer, grants can be made anonymously).
  • Your gift is invested over time and the earnings from your fund are used to make grants addressing community needs. Your gift - and all future earnings from your gift - is a permanent source of community capital, helping to support community now and forever.
